With prior notice to the SAS company’s office in charge - see below - disabled tourists can have free access to the ZTL, Limited Traffic Area, with their own car showing the international card for people with disabilities.


This notice – we recommend that you give notice before your arrival – shall be provided by contacting the Call Center: by telephone using the toll-free number 800 339891, by fax (+39 055 4040253) or by e-mail using the dedicated form and attaching a copy of the signatory’s document and a copy of the parking card. The (multilingual) call center is active from Monday to Friday with the following opening hours 8.30-1pm/2pm-4.30pm. The call is free of charge from landlines and mobiles.
Those who have booked accommodation can report the data of their car directly to the accommodation facility, which, if equipped, shall forward them electronically to the relevant office: you need to ascertain that the contacted facility actually provides this service, because, in fact, not all the hotel facilities are authorized to do so.


You have two options for parking: on-street parking spaces or multi-storey car parks

1. Beside the common on-street parking spaces for disabled people - not be confused with personalized spaces, which are marked by the disabled holder’s car registration number - the cars with the “disabled” parking card can also stop in all the spaces (white or blue lines), free of charge and time limits within the municipal territory.

2. The “FIRENZE PARCHEGGI” parking facilities are equipped with a certain number of parking spaces for disabled persons that are made available at no charge.
For Italian and foreign tourists who have a regular disability permit, the best solution is to take advantage of the exterior lay-bys of parking areas (where available, Piazza Ghiberti, Parterre and Porta al Prato), being careful to display the permit through the windshield. To enter the internal areas of other parking facilities, tourists with disabilities must press the SOS button on the entry gate post without withdrawing the ticket and avoiding the Telepass lane. An operator will reply around the clock (24/7) and the tourist will have to communicate identification data (vehicle numberplate, city and country of issue, number and term of validity of the disability permit). The operator will issue a special ticket - depending on availability of parking space* - for free parking up to the maximum limit of 20 days, for use directly at the exit.
If a tourist with disability withdraws a normal ticket or enters by means of the Telepass device without first communicating his or her data, the same will be obliged to make payment of the ordinary tariff.
* If the limited availability of internal parking for disabled persons is full, the user must pay the ordinary tariff.
